Custom Naming Templates
Video Tagger is a local-first desktop app for macOS that cleans up filenames, fetches movie & TV metadata, and writes Plex / Jellyfin / Kodi / Emby-compatible sidecar files next to your videos.
Generate filenames your media server already understands.
Video Tagger includes built-in presets for Plex, Jellyfin, Kodi, and Emby. You can also create a custom naming template to match your own library convention.
Built-in presets
- Plex: optimized for Plex agent matching and local media asset discovery.
- Jellyfin: follows Jellyfin's recommended movie and episode naming conventions.
- Kodi: uses Kodi-compatible
.nfoand artwork filenames. - Emby: aligns with Emby's standard sidecar layout.
Template tokens
Custom templates support tokens such as:
{title}— movie or episode title{year}— release year{season}and{episode}— season and episode numbers{tmdb_id}— TMDB identifier
